CEO & President of
Helicopter Transport Technologies

The company was founded in early 2005 by Mr. Chris Spano, CEO and President of Helicopter Transport Technologies (HTT). Mr. Spano is a pilot and has been involved in the aviation industry since 1968 creating and managing many diverse and unique aviation focused operations, companies, products and services in the equipment and transport industry.

The purpose and goal of the company is to provide the aviation industry with an efficient and cost effective alternative solution to the challenges and extreme costs involved in transporting small aircraft by air and land to their operational destinations.

“As a pilot and project manager, I traveled by air and land to many different locations and events. In many cases, I hauled my aircraft on an open trailer to save air travel and maintenance costs and avoid time consuming weather restrictions. But, I experienced many obstacles that made transporting my aircraft extremely difficult. Harsh weather conditions and damages to the aircraft made ferrying on an open trailer less than desirable. This triggered my thoughts to create something that had never been built before, an enclosed mobile hangar.”

states Mr. Spano. The solution was the design and creation of the Mobile Hangar™.

In early 2005, HTT teamed up with Wells Cargo, Inc., which has been an established trailer manufacturer since 1954 with six manufacturing plants located across the U.S. Wells Cargo embraced Mr. Spano’s idea, purpose and vision for the Mobile Hangar™ product(s) and agreed to manufacturer these build-to-order products. In 2006, HTT partnered with GE Capital Solutions to provide users with financing options, including leasing and fixed term rental programs. More recently, HTT has formed a partnership with Southeast Insurance Group to offer customers the most comprehensive worldwide insurance solutions available.

“HTT takes pride in designing and engineering custom made mobile hangars for every application, including general aviation, military and homeland security, emergency and disaster response, law enforcement and many more. Features such as interior living quarters, operations centers and equipment, loading options, enclosed maintenance capability, on-board fuel, storage, etc., make it possible to satisfy virtually any customer and application.”

states Spano.

The company is continuing to improve on its current success and is investing in the design, engineering and development of new products and services for the aviation and other industries such as mobile emergency medical units, field command posts, HASMAT field operations units and many more.
